Virtual Choir

When the COVID-19 pandemic began and we started worshipping online, one of the things everyone missed was singing together. We started with only having piano accompaniment in our worship, while worked for a bit, the voices were missed. Thus began the Norval United Virtual Choir.

Under the guidance of Tom Auger, members record their voices at home each week. Through the magic of technology, the voices and Alan’s accompaniment are put together to provide music for both our online and in person services.

We are always looking for more voices.  If you would like to join, contact Tom Auger by email.

Seniors’ Hymn Sing

Part of Norval United Church’s outreach ministry includes monthly visits to three senior’s residences to provide a hymn-sing and worship.   We visit Mountainview Residence on the second Wednesday, Extendicare on the third Sunday and the Bennett Centre on the fourth Wednesday of each month.  All services are at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

The time spent with folks at these two facilities is a blessing; for us, for the residents who can communicate their appreciation, as well as those who are unable to speak or sing.

Anyone interested in helping lead or participate in bringing this important ministry to our local seniors would be most welcome to join us at any service.  Contact the church office for more information.

Prayer Group

The prayer group meets every Sunday morning before our worship service between 9:15 and 9:45.  Anyone is welcome to join in prayer for individuals, our church and the world.
If you have prayer requests you can send them toprayers@norvalunited.ca Contact Marilyn Smith at marilynasmith04@gmail.com or Jennifer Barnett at jdhb2002@yahoo.ca if you would like more information.

Bill Laidlaw Memorial Fund and Golf Tournament

The Bill Laidlaw Memorial Fund honours a great man of Norval United Church and of the local farming community by offering financial support to Children’s and Youth Programs and Youth Leadership Development at Norval United Church and in the Halton Hills Community.

Funds raised at our annual Bill Laidlaw Memorial Golf Tournament have allowed us to offer financial assistance to our Outreach Committee for community youth support, to our own Children & Youth Programs, to the Georgetown Canadian Tire Jump Start Program, for scholarships to our NUC graduating youth, and also to both the Georgetown District High School and  Christ the King High School, as well as the Johnathan Campbell Youth Leadership Award.  Norval United Church is proud to carry on the memory of Bill Laidlaw through this memorial fund. Youth are a very important component to the life of our church, our community and our future.

The first Annual Chicken BBQ took place in 1967. This year’s BBQ is a drive thru event on May 28th. You can find out more information about this year’s event on Saturday May 28th here.

Canada Day

Join us on Canada Day for a BBQ, fireworks and fun.   This is a great family event and loved by all who attend.  Many families have made this a yearly tradition.   Stay tuned for more information in June.
