Children’s and Youth Ministry Updates at NUC
We’re excited to share updates as we begin a new season of ministry with children, youth, and families at Norval!
Staff and Volunteer Leadership
The Horseshoe Falls Regional Council has recently approved Norval’s Congregational Designated Ministry (CDM) position, and our Search Team will begin meeting and the search process soon. The congregation will be kept updated throughout this journey.
In the meantime, we are deeply grateful for the dedicated volunteers who have ensured our children’s and youth programming continues. Our Sunday Kids’ Program has run each week through the summer and will continue into the fall with volunteer support. If you enjoy working with children and youth, we’d love to have you join the team! Please contact Tammy VanReenen via the church office (office@norvalunited.ca) for more information.
We are also delighted to share that our youth programs will continue under the volunteer leadership of Rev. Ruth Noble, Executive Director of Affirm United, who brings a wealth of experience and passion for children’s and youth ministry. Junior Youth Group – Fun, Faith & Food!
For youth in Grades 4–8. We’ll gather monthly (second Friday of each month after October) in the NUC youth room, unless otherwise noted. Snacks are provided. Upcoming gathering dates:
- Friday, Sept. 26 – 7–8:30 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 10 – No Gathering – Happy Thanksgiving!
- Friday, Nov. 14 – 7–8:30 p.m.
Teen Leadership Group
For youth in high school and up. Meeting monthly on Sundays after worship in the youth room with lunch provided. Teens will develop leadership skills, deepen faith, and help shape opportunities for service. Rev. Ruth and Rev. Heather will share leadership of this group during the transition. Our first gathering will include planning for a youth-led service in November. Upcoming gathering dates:
- Sunday, Sept. 21 – 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Future dates tbd when we meet in September
Family Movie Nights
Bring the family (and your stuffies & blankies!) for Free Family Movie Nights on the big screen in the sanctuary. Snacks provided. Dates and details for our first fall gathering will be shared soon—stay tuned! All families are welcome!
