Our Future World: The Church, You, and Technological Change

On January 18th, at 7:00pm EST, Winnie Allingham will be sharing a seminar called “Our Future World — The Church, You, and Technological Change”. In the context of issues such as climate change and racism, and remembering that we are the church, she will look at two key questions:
- How can the church be a spiritual and moral guide in a profit-driven future?
- How can the church address the next frontiers of racism and sexism – when there is hard-coded bias in the software that runs our lives?
The seminar is designed to raise awareness and start the conversation. Next steps, takeaways and calls to action are outlined. Most importantly, this seminar is designed to be FUN – not doom and gloom, or a monotone recital of facts and figures. It is fast-paced and lively with short video clips and humour.
Based in Toronto, Winnie Allingham is a member of Kingsway-Lambton United Church. Winnie works in software and has a keen interest in how the ‘future’ is rapidly becoming our ‘now’. Winnie is the Recipient of an Embracing the Spirit Grant toward Innovative Ministry from the United Church of Canada.
Jennifer Stinson of Norval United Church will be the tech host and will open the ‘doors’ at 6:55pm. Look forward to seeing you then.
